I haven't tried the latest version of Vuescan, so I can't comment on it.
The most recent version I've used with my LS30 *does* introduce a small
amount of softening in the image overall, which becomes progressively
stronger with the strength of the filters. However with negs this is
actually a good thing since it smooths the grain aliasing to some degree
while removing dust spots. How the filters behave with the current version
will need a response from Ed or someone whop has tried it! :)
