You can't use the older CD/DVD driver on newer machines, without losing
some functions (well, one function, anyway). I just tried it on my dual
800 G4, and with the older driver installed, the CD/DVD door won't close
when I try to use the CD open/close button on my keyboard. It'll open,
but it won't close, unless I physically push on it.
