Yes, I have been under this obligation in the past when working in a
sub-contract for another engraver.

Just a note on why one doesn't always give away Finale files: I often work
with clients who simply want a good looking, easily readable printed copy of
some old manuscript. In this case I do not have to immitate any particular
publisher, but instead use my own, carefully fine-tuned template. This
template I do not give to any client, nor any music files that are based on
it. This template is my capital.

I offer PDFs and MIDI files. (In most cases my clients do not own a copy of
Finale anyway).
