In crossplatform projects you will always have to make this conversion.
The good thing is that in Finale 2002 this process can be automated.

yes did the trick.

okay i installed russian and eastern euro linguas so i can now type 
with these, but the problem is that the file will pass back and forth 
[mac-pc] several times.  so essentially i will have to convert the 
text each time we transfer the doc, is that correct?  grr.
