Sounds like you are working too hard.  Are you entering all the notes 
before applying the accidentals?

It's easier in simple entry is to enter the notes by indicating 
quavers with the numeric 4 key and "S" for sharp and just enter them 
with one click.  they will automatically already be sharped.  To keep 
the quaver (eighth) note value and enter a non-sharp note, just hit 
the s again and it turns off the sharp.
