I have always been thus advised, and have always done so. So, just out of curiosity, what does virtual memory do, and why would one ever want it switched on, since all I ever hear is "switch it off?" No need for a voluminous answer. This is just a query so that I might better understand how the Mac works. Also, is there virtual memory in OS - X?
