"Carbonized" means it is fully OS X compatible, but will also run on System
9 (in simple terms). There are other ways of making programs OS X
compatible, but my guess is that this is _very_ unlikely to ever happen with
Finale. Carbonized would be fine, anyway, and requires much less
reprogramming.
I think what this person meant was that some preparation for an OS X release
would be included in 2k3 (ie some of the GUI probably needed to be revised)
so that a later maintenance release could more easily make the switch to a
fully OS X compatible version.

I have absolutely no information whether Coda ever announced anything in
regard to an OS X release, but what you say makes me hope that we won't have
to wait for Fin2k4 for this to happen. Whatever the case, I don't think Coda
can afford to wait any longer than 2k4 for such a version, unless they are
planning to drop the Mac version altogether.

I am pretty sure it would be slower, however the main problem will be MIDI
support (which I don't think is possible for the Classic environment running
under OS X).

BTW if you are looking for a stabler OS you could start by updating your OS
to 9.1 or 9.22, this should not involve incompatibilities and I have only
had positive experiences (with the exception of a problem with Audio apps in
9.22 that could be solved by using an older CD driver).

I am pretty sure they will not yet commit to a release date for a OSX
version, but you can always try.
