Music Engraving Today is a new book by Steven Powell. I highly recommend this book to any working (or hoping to be) music typesetter/engraver/editor. Powell has a direct and appropriately sardonic writing style and an "eye for layout" that makes the book a joy to hold and read. Comparisons of Finale & Sibelius are explained w/examples side by side. A wealth of good info and honest criticism.
And most importantly the "three things that got me rehired" in the engraving business are listed right there in the introduction! That's worth the whole price of admission. I got what I consider a great deal through NPC that includes the Ted Ross book and Andrew Stillers instrumentation book on mini CDs. Less than $80 for all.
