hi robert,
in the case where both measures are in the same system, after running the bob PI (beam over barlines :^) it becomes impossible to adjust any tuplets, articulations, text expressions attached to the first note in M2 [unless one repositions the "extra" notes in M1 to which the tuplet is attached to appear inside the measure, then does the adjustments and repositions the notes in M2... ack.]. the initial tuplet bracket in M2 is very wrongly positioned by bob. patterson tuplet mover is also rendered partially unusable in such cases, in particular regarding the extension of brackets. follows a solution that i would like to propose. case 1: M1 = beam, M2 = beam; M1 and M2 either on same system or on different systems - "extra" notes are not necessary in such cases. beams are extended, to a user-definable value [or fixed to something like 18 or 24 EVPUs] beyond the note in the opposing measure [which will allow for a certain amount of further spacing and/or positioning readjustments without causing "holes" in the beaming]. when a system break interrupts the beam, the beam is extended to the right in M1 to the right system margin, and to the left in M2 to the beginning of the measure or to the right [or left] edge of the clef at the start of the system [user-definable]? if this is not possible [when 2 measures are in same system] because of necessary beam height and angle adjustments [i don't know if this can be automated across measures], perhaps everything except the first notehead in M2 [or all relevant noteheads] could be hidden. then one could access items attached to this/these note[s]. the user would define which "shape" in the shape designer dialogue box to use for the invisible stems, or perhaps a new empty shape could be created and selected by bob the first time it is run. case 2: M1 = beam, M2 = stem - if bob is altered so that it affects M2 when on the same system as M1 the same way as it currently affects M2 when the measures are on different systems, the problem of item inaccessibility described above isn't an issue. in both cases, further spacing adjustments using mass mover will not be problematic, as they are with the use of "extra" notes with the current functioning of bob. also bob will then only need to be run once. cheers, jef -- shirling & neueweise \................/ new music notation specialists mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] :.../ http://newmusicnotation.com ++ _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
