With regards to Apple's purchase of emagic, emagic produced more products than just Logic. In particular, I would hope that Apple will integrate Sound Diver into Mac OS X, giving full access to whatever sound modules etc. that are being used, through the operating system.
I would also imagine that they may be interested in the XSKey copy protection system for Final Cut Pro... My 2c, if Apple wanted to produce the killer music application, they could combine Logic, the EXS24 internal sampler and Finale into one mega-package, with Sound Diver operating from OS level. Logic's scoring capability exists but is pretty minimal compared to Finale. Imagine clicking on the Hyperscribe button and getting full sequencer abilities. Or being able to manipulate blocks of music in an 'arrange' type of way. Full SMTPE. Fully user-programmable keystrokes. Dream on...
