Once they are attached, you can edit them, which includes dragging the 
ending points, the arcs, etc., so you can place one as a slur from the 
last note of the first ending to the first note of the second ending, 
and then drag the part attached to the first note to where it is up in 
the air and looks like a tie-ending.  Smart-shape slurs will stay where 
they are edited.
