This should be in 3 places,
(1) In the Tutorials
(2) In the Manual
(3) On-line <<

This is true of just about any manual for any computer software that was 
published after 1980.  Manuals used to be organized in a way that made 
sense.  Now manuals, when they exist at all, are lists of things the 
software will do.  If you're lucky, you get some tutorials such as Finale 
has.

Try working through the tutorials for Finale.  If you get balled up, stop 
and post a query here.  I find that answers to my queries sometimes come 
back within a half hour.  After you ask a few simplistic questions and get 
them answered, you will feel more comfortable with the software in general.  
I had a hard time learning which tool was which; once you get that into your 
head, it's easier to look up what you want to know in the manual.   The 
manual is actually quite complete and detailed, once you know what tool is 
used for what.
