I have had an undesirable result with this, but it may be unlikely 
with the usual crowd here.

I entered a jazz shake as an articulation that stretched across a 
half note tied to a dotted quarter. When I spaced, the articulation 
pushed the dotted quarter past it's boundary at its right-hand edge. 
I had to turn off "avoid collisions between articulations" and 
respace this measure in every part (13 of 'em!), which was somewhat 
of a drag.

But it beat the alternative, which was to leave articulation 
collision off and having to respace every measure that had a scoop or 
a fall-off, which was many more!

This is a beef of mine with the collision avoidance algorithm. Finale 
assumes that the next note MUST have an articulation (or a chord 
symbol, or a lyric, or a staff expression that is note-attached, 
etc.) and avoids collision by pushing the next note right, regardless 
of whether there actually IS a collision or not!

Oh, well, I'll add that on to the list of beefs I have...
