But what about having system breaks in scroll view? I think it would be 
possible because of the way I've noticed the selection handled in 
certain kinds of repeats.

It also reminds me of my suggestion from many moons ago that barlines 
have their status upped to be objects with graphical and playback 
elements. 'Member that fantasia? A barline object could theoretically 
know it's at a system break in Scroll View and draw itself accordingly. 
For all of us Scroll View buffs, this would be a handsome feature. It 
seems to me also that it might be a way Finale could eventually handle 
barlines in scores with asynchronous meters.

The other part of that suggestion was "Barline Expressions".

This would be new expression layer with the ability to trigger 
independent playback of Note files -- "tempo-less" effects not related 
to the current meter in the score.

They would also provide a way to (roughly) separate expressions into 
those affecting dynamics from those affecting things like patch changes 
and tempo. For copying purposes this could mean less editing 
afterwards. For note entry and recording, the ability to set up an 
orchestral outline.
