Same problem with PC laptops.

I was just suggesting that if raw speed is really important (it is to me,
as I also do lots of audio), it's pretty inexpensive to build a blazing
fast PC that you could use just for Finale, and still keep the slower but
familiar Mac with all the other applications. I'm in a constant state of
incremental upgrade as prices drop -- just paid $40 for my 32x Sony CD
burners, $60 for 60GB hard drives, etc. Using cheap swap-in hard drives,
there's plenty of cheap storage for video editing. And after 13 months with
this Athlon 1.4GHz, it's time for a new CPU to bring speed up again, and
it'll cost me less than $200 to get what is in effect a new machine -- and
keep everything that's familiar.

The only thing still left on this machine since 1992 is the diskette drive
and some friendly applications I still use.

This isn't a Mac-PC provocation, just a suggestion that for limited use and
until you can buy a faster Mac, a fast & upgradable PC in the corner can be
really helpful.

Dennis
