My first priority in preparing this score is to extract the parts; creating the piano/conductor's score is secondary, so given the deadline I am spending my time getting the parts out. It requires a little tweaking because the original operator did some things that need straightening out as I go along.
However, in creating the piano/conductor score, it seems like the best advice to follow will be to copy each piece and use Special Parts Extraction. Will this keep the original operator's text blocks which he used instead of measure attached expressions from drifting about? In the one piece I experimented with by making a copy and simply deleting the unnecessary staves, it required re-formatting because the original file is very small to fit all the parts on a letter-sized page, a little too small to conduct from. Doing it this way, his text blocks went flying. I haven't noticed as many problems in the extracted parts. Also, there is one piece in which his chords do not line up in the guitar part. The ones which do not line up can only be edited in the manual placement mode, not the type into score mode. I can't guess why he did this. Also, once the part is extracted, the chords input in the manual way become distorted. The chord name is the right size, but the suffix is huge. There is nothing in the change chord suffix or the font definition to suggest how to fix this. Any advice?
