The man who owns the studio where I do the Finale work has been told that Finale 2003 scans music perfectly, and is proposing to scan the over 2,000 pieces of sheet music in the collection.

My feeling is that this will still produce files which will need so much cleaning up that it would be just as easy to input whatever needs to be done from scratch. However, the person telling him this is confidant that we should upgrade to 2003 to take advantage of this. Any thoughts on this?
Greetings Crystal,

The overwhelming majority of remarks about scanning on this list have suggested that it would be largely a waste of time. Perhaps you could get someone to volunteer a straight scan of a typical piece? That might give you a better idea of how much fixing will have to be done.
