JD,
I know you say you only want to use the Finale MIDI driver, and not
mess around with OMS (which is perfectly understandable), but from
appearances it looks like Coda is phasing out support for that option
as part of the long slow march towards OS X compatibility. I suspect
that the "Finale MIDI driver" option will be entirely absent from
Finale 2004, so it's probably only a matter of time before you will
have to get used to OMS. Since nothing anyone has suggested has worked
for you so far, I think maybe it's time to bite the bullet and install
OMS. (It's not that bad, really, especially if Finale is your only
MIDI app.)
