mingus.  as with beethoven's pno son op111, 2 performances = 2 interpretations.   
compare gould to gulda for example.   no one would argue that either of these 
performers is now the composer of op111.  in jazz the accepted interpretive borders 
are more flexible than with beethoven performance standards [that these exist is of 
course an entirely different discussion, and just as problematic], which explains the 
significant differences in the result.
