I've been looking at redesigning my metatools for the arpeggio mark to be more convenient, and that has given me occasion to re-examine my rules for vertical placement of them. I used to use a scheme which had the wavy line vertically centered over the chord regardless of how it falls on the staff. Now I'm thinking I want to change to a scheme where the wavy line always crosses staff lines at the same place, even though that makes the whole thing uncentered with the chord in some cases.
Basically what I have in mind now is that staff lines always cross the arpeggio mark at the left-most part of its wave. At the bottom end, the center of the "<" aligns with the line of a line notehead or the line below a space notehead. At the top end, the bottom of the ">" aligns with the line of a line notehead or the line above a space notehead. This means that it sticks up rather far above a space notehead, but I find I like that better than not sticking up far enough. Is there an established standard for this? In looking at the music on my shelf from various publishers, I find that arpeggio markings are pretty much haphazard in their placement. I know I'm probably one of the few here who is detail-minded enough to pay attention to such things, but for those others who do, I'd be curious to know what your style is for this. mdl _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
