Yeah, I just like to define my methods of "make it look pretty" more closely, so that I can automate the system better and not spend so much time tweaking every one. It seems to me that in terms of vertical placement there's really only four relevant permutations, based on whether the top and bottom noteheads are on lines or spaces. Whether one end of another goes into ledger lines does affect the look, even if the placement is mathematically the same, but after some consideration I decided to pick a standard that doesn't depend on that. Horizontal placement is an entirely separate issue from vertical placement -- for me, anyway. I'm pretty happy with my new system, with just two metatools, based on whether the top note is line or space. This always gets the TOP of my curve where I want it, so I only need to move the bottom handle, which moves in discrete intervals and thus is reliable with simple click and drag. Horizontal position for both is set to a default that works for a chord with no accidentals or suspended noteheads, and I nudge left as necessary. mdl _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
