You can print from almost any application to PDF if you have the correct software. Most PDF creation software takes the form of (or at least includes) a print driver -- choose that as your printer, and instead of a printout you get a PDF.

The de facto standard for creating PDFs is Adobe Acrobat, available from www.adobe.com. This package includes the Acrobat application, for working with and editing PDFs, as well as the Acrobat Distiller application and print driver for creating PDFs. It is full-featured, but it is not cheap.

I have had good results from the Jaws PDF Creator, available from www.jawspdf.com. It is less expensive than Acrobat but provides just about as much power in creating PDFs.

There are various other PDF print drivers and utilities available, but I don't have any experience with them. You can try Googling on 'pdf print driver' to find them. Some of them are probably cheaper than Jaws, if that's an issue for you.

There's also a freeware way of doing this, but it takes more work. First, you'll need to download and install Ghostcript and GSView from http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/ Then you make sure you have some Postscript print driver installed, even though you may not own a Postscript printer. Use that print driver to print your file to a Postscript file, open the PS file in GSview, and do File | Convert to convert the PS file to a PDF. (Yes, these are sketchy instructions.)

Good luck!

Aaron.
