I have auto music spacing turned on but leave auto update layout turned off
and am aware of the associated delays and redraws involved.

What I am describing starts with what seems like a much more innocent event,
like entering a note in speedy, adding an articulation or even playing back
the piece. Before the event transpires you have to wait for the note to
stop spinning and then (just like magic!) you get your note, artic. or
otherwise.

I can't remember but were auto spacing and update layout even around in
finale 2000?

Thanks,

Don Hart
