How do I enter a fermata on an empty bar (whole rest in 4/4)? Do I have to enter a whole rest? If I do, Fin2k3 spaces it a little more to the right, while an added fermata is being placed right in the middle of the bar. Am I doing something wrong here?

You can attach a fermata to an empty bar as a text expression. Shift-U, 24 pt. in your music font will give the fermata. In the dialog boxes you will want to specify that it will be assigned to "this staff only." Since its handle is on the left, you will want to apply it a bit to the left of center so that it will line up with the measure rest. If you find that you will be doing this for a lot of bars, you can assign it as a metatool to an appropriate key on the alpha keyboard, such as 'F'.
