Just for the record, Darcy, they didn't get lost, at least by me -- I read them and didn't have any answers.

And not believing in replying to all the posts to which I don't know the answer with an "I don't know" I simply let them pass.

But they were read.

Hey all,

Sorry to be obnoxious but some of my questions have, I think, gotten lost in the recent flurry of off-topic activity -- not that I have any right to complain, given my own vigorous participation in several of those threads. But I thought I'd re-post some of these as a reminder, in case anyone out there can help me find a solution to any of them:

1) Collision of Ties and Slurs: I've adopted most (well, okay, *all*, to be honest) of the tie and slur settings Johannes suggests on his website. However, I find that even with these settings and Tie Mover and all of that, I still have to manually adjust all the slurs that begin or end on tied notes. Is there a better way to go about this? Is there a plug-in which will automatically find slurs attached to tied notes and nudge them away from the ties slightly? (Chuck helpfully sent his own default file, with slightly different settings, but I *like* Johannes's tie settings. I only want to move the slurs, if possible.)

2) Missing Characters When Printing: Okay, I've recently switched to the Adobe Postscript driver (v8.8) instead of the LaserWriter 8 driver since the latter seems not to work under Classic. But I've run into a problem... in my text font (Times), extended characters -- such as accented characters or curly quotes -- do not print. I've tried switching to a different font (Times New Roman) but the problem persists. From what I can tell, I have only the TrueType version of these fonts installed. (It's complicated, though, as the fonts exist both in the Classic System Folder and in OS X's Library, and I'm not sure which version is being used.) I have tried turning off "Substitute Fonts" in the PostScript options, but that makes no difference. I also have ATM 4.6.2 installed in my Classic System Folder -- I don't know if that's a factor or not. In the LaserWriter 8 driver, there was an option to prefer TrueType fonts over PostScript fonts, but that option is apparently absent from the Adobe driver.

3) Looking For Baroque Oldstyle Font: I'm working on a poster that uses the Baroque Oldstyle font JSL Ancient <http://www.shipbrook.com/jeff/typograf.html>, a faux-Renaissance font. However, I'm unhappy with the curly quotation marks provided. I would like to use the wedge-shaped 45-degree angle quotes found in fonts like Palatino, but with distended edges to match JSL Ancient. Does anyone know of such a font and where I could get it?

Thanks again,

- Darcy
