Thanks for your various replies. I've done more experimenting and have talked to friends who have also attempted. Here is what I found finally worked for me: 1. While reading the sheet music from the CD-ROM, choose the print option, and then print it to the software which supports your scanner (in my case, Visioneer/ Paper Port). Choose a 300-dpi, line art setting.
2. Using the scanner software, save the music as a TIFF file. 3. At this point you can use the Smart Score Lite from the Finale file menu to read and input the TIFF file. For better results, try using SharpEye2 (http://www.dolet.biz/sharpeye/index.html), save as a MusicXML file, then use the Music XML import plug-in (Dolet Lite) which is included with Finale 2003 in order to import into Finale. I tried this out on a Schubert Lied and found that SharpEye2 even dealt quite well with strophic German text, including all the umlauts and ß's. A bit convoluted, but it saves paper for printing and then saves you from getting less than a perfect scan or even a slightly off-kilter scan. Does anyone have opinions about the relative merits of Smart Score professional vs. SharpEye2? _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
