I must never write to the List early in the morning! Forget the word 'cassette' - I was thinking of some ancient prehistoric device! According to my Beatles Anthology (Disc 2) notes, 'Take 1' (voice and acoustic guitar only) was actually a pre-Take 1 demo recording made in Lennon's home at Weybridge. He wrote the song while on location for the film 'How I Won the War' in Almeida, Spain, and taped the demos on his subsequent return to England on the November 7, 1966. Take 1 - with the band at the EMI studios - was made on Nov 24, 1966.
