Funny you would mention this...I was thinking over the problem as I was on a plane today and it occured to me that maybe the procedure would be that before hitting the MIDI note, arrow the cursor up or down so that it is above or below the v1 note, depending on which way you want the stem to go. That's probably what I haven't been doing...I've just been MIDI'ing along merrily, and muttering too. I'll try it.
