One thing I've noticed about string players (all players actually) is that whatever you mark in with the 'printed word' or 'symbol', they will surely mark in again in pencil....only much larger! This goes with all the usual bowings, sordini, etc., etc. This does make sense from their perspective because it makes these markings jump out at you from the page, pencil against print.
Maybe the solution is to print a set of parts that you intend to use or send out, then mark them up in pencil yourself so they are all identical! They can still erase you pencil markings then without having the confusion of the printed ones being scrubbed out, or not as maybe the case.
