Well, it depends. If Fin2003 was installed in Program Files\Finale, and you then installed Fin2004 to Program Files\Finale, it will overwrite whatever you had in there before.
I had Fin2003 in Finale 2003, and installed Fin2004 to Finale 2004, and everything stayed right where it was. I've been able to switch back and forth easily between both versions. I'm fairly certain that the installer does not uninstall earlier versions, either with or without asking you.
