I have an orchestral piece which ends with a DC al Fine. Many of the insturments have nothing to play in the second section and have 35 bars rest.
When I extract the parts, the final bar is not included in the mulimeasure rest - i.e. - I get 34 bars rest plus one bar on its own.
At the moment I am having to delete the DC on the parts, re-create a multi measure rest including all the bars then re-insert the DC. This seems daft.
What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it?
You're not doing anything wrong. The text is attached to that 35th bar, and a multimeasure rest effectively "hides" all measures except the first. If it were to create a full 35-measure rest, the text would disappear. What you might try is:
1) Save a separate copy of the score
2) Deleting the "DC al Fine" text in the copy and placing on the *first* bar of the rest
3) Extract just the parts that require this modification
The parts will then have a correctly-created 35-measure rest with "DC al Fine" over the rest. And since you did this to a separate copy, the original score remains intact.
