Below are a couple of suggestions that I sent to Makemusic. If you think that they would be good, then please feel free to copy/paste/regurgitate to Makemusic as well.
Matthew Dear Macsupport, I've been trying out the Windows demo of Finale 2004 and have a couple of suggestions: 1) The Human Playback feature is nice. However I've found that if, for example, a string orchestra-worth of instruments is selected, they're all put on the one channel, which is a little annoying in terms of the playback affecting all staves. Life would be a little easier if Finale could intelligently allocate playback channels not to conflict when they don't need to (i.e. one channel per staff) Perhaps a solution to this would be if the initial setup wizard could be expanded to include a number of preset ensembles, e.g. string quartet, string trio, big band, SATB choir, SSA+piano choir etc. etc. etc. The existing instrument selection could form part of a Custom set. This would merge the current function of the templates with the flexibility of the setup wizard. 2) It would be great if staff names etc. for staves could be changed via the Setup Wizard, i.e. changing their name, transpostion, instrument playback assignment etc. automatically. Thus for example, if you had an alto saxophone staff and wanted the entire line changed to cor anglais, you could somehow do this and it would set it all up automatically, rather than having to go in and do it all manually, as is currently the case. In my experience, this would make things significantly easier for less-well experienced users of the application as well, such as school or university students who are coming to grips with the application as a whole. Thanks for taking the time to consider these suggestions, Matthew Hindson _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
