At first I figured this had to be possible, either in Finale or elsewhere. So, I first tried with the expression shape creator. I came up with something, but it wasn't too pretty. I decided it wasn't worth the trouble for the results. Just now, though, I gave it another shot, and came up with something that looks better. So, perhaps with enough time and patience, and depending on the size you have to print at, here's how it might be done:

1) Figure out how many humps you'll need, imagining a straight line runs through the whole wave line, cutting it in half.
2) In the shape designer, create as many curved lines as needed with an even length (if that's what you want - it looks more correct that way to my eyes) of 10 EVPUs (or whatever you like). (Note: You might want to put the grid on, and have it set to whatever length you want the segments to be.) You'll have to figure out how wide the lines should be. I was using 1pt I think.
3) Adjust the curved lines so that the first and last have less amplitude and gradually increase toward the middle, and match up the lines as best you can to avoid gaps.
4) Add straight lines to the ends, trying *really* hard to get it to match up with the flanking curves. That's the hardest part, IMO.
5) Place in score, and hope that it's the right size

I have tried your tuturial, and have achived nice results after your description, it takes a little time to get, but I think with some carefull practice in the Shape Designer it is very usefull; however, when I use the Curve Tool and activate the three handle with Selection tool and try to change the curvature with the middle handle, it seems to be locked a bit, so I only with difficulty can move it; also I have experienced that Finale crash working with and deleting shapes, and have rappported it to Mac-support (it was some times ago), who also could reproduce it. So hopefully they also will give Shape Designer a new check too. Last I will mention that the shape will change when page layout change, but I think graphics is the last thing at all to enter in a score, also measure attached graphics.

Ole
