At your urging, I downloaded the demo. I'm always reluctant to do anything
with these copy-protected programs, but since the demo doesn't include the
NI Kontakt (which I will never allow on my system, nothing by NI, ever), I
installed it.

The display does have smoothing, and even at highest quality, the display
shows no lag at any magnification. It is a faster display than most
graphics-heavy programs.

I have a DirectX 9 system under Win98se with a 1.4GHz Athlon and Matrox 450
dual-head card. Sibelius was rock solid and without any anomalies. And I
whalloped through clicking notes into place as fast as I could, dragging
beams everywhere, and just trying to crash it or fool the display. Not a
whimper.

I'll run the demo some more. Unfortunately, the demo does not load Finale
files, and many of those I tried to load come up with a 'fatal error'
dialog box, saying I have to update the layout. With my graphics-heavy
scores, updating layout is exactly what must never be done. :)

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll see if I can actually enter a short score
with it.

Dennis
