One thing that I haven't tried yet, but that ought to work, would be to
print the left-side pages of a 9x12 2-up, then turn the printer around
and print the right-side pages.
Interesting concept... (Do you also turn your house to change a lightbulb?)
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Good one.
(Obviously, that should have been "turn the *paper* around... )
However, as it turns out, the technique I describe doesn't actually work. At least, I can't get it to work. Because the printer is expecting 12x17 paper instead of 12x18 paper, it adds an extra inch to the left-hand (12") margin, even when you're just printing one 9x12 Finale page at a time. Also, the duplex unit doesn't work with 12" wide pages. It's becoming apparent that while it might be theoretically possible to the Ricoh AP2610 to do 2-up 9x12 pages on a 12x18 sheet, it's *way* more trouble than its worth. (Unless there's some sort of trick I'm overlooking.)
I'm glad I got the trimmer and music taping machine, because it seems that 12x18 booklets just aren't going to happen with this printer. I'm going to be doing either 11x17 booklets or 9x12 taped parts, depending on the project.
By the way, that 25" Carl rotary trimmer is the shiznit. I forget who recommended it, but it's great.
BTW, just to warn you before you get more headaches: I don't think the
booklet print command in Finale Script actually works correctly. It prints
every other double page in the wrong order, at least on the Mac.
Good to know -- I haven't even looked at Finale Script yet, though. I was planning on figuring out the (11x17) booklet page order the old-fashioned way.
