I don't have a strong opinion either way on what the default should be, but there should be an easy way to switch between them without going into Edit Frame.

Yes, I agree with you completely here, and this has been driving me crazy as well. An item should either be spaced properly or completely ignored.

It doesn't even apply to *those* notes. That's what's frustrating me.
