Well, it seems to me that it's probably specific to the software 
environment I'm running in, Win2K. And most likely, since it happens 
when a measure is painted onscreen, video driver-related.

Which is strange, since I've got the same video drivers I've always 
had, and there's nothing at all unusual about the notation in this 
measure.

Perhaps I should re-install Finale, since if I'm remembering 
correctly, sometimes the font gets corrupted and this leads to the 
problem.

I also found the problem in a different measure later on (probably a 
reprise of the same music), so it really does appear to be something 
related to the particular content of the measure.

Actually, I've moved on -- I have other work to do, and since it 
appears to be very specific to my PC and this particular measure, 
I'll not worry about it, as I've now finished my work on that piece 
(at least for now).
