Hi Richard, Ah, I think you are talking about the music scanning that is packaged with Finale 2004. This doesn't use Dolet or MusicXML at all. And as you have noticed, it doesn't use your document settings either.
I think SharpEye Music Reader will do a better job for you. It shouldn't be making any of those mistakes on a regular basis. Nothing's perfect, of course: a poorly printed time signature will confuse most scanners at this point, just like poorly printed text will confuse OCR programs. But the best way to find out is to try it yourself from: http://store.recordare.com/sharpeye2.html The full version of Dolet will give the best results. But on Finale 2004, the big difference will be between SmartScore Light and SharpEye, rather than between the light and full versions of Dolet.
