Matthew POSITION: Lecturer in Music (Western Musicology) DEPARTMENT: School of Society, Culture and Performance Faculty of Arts TYPE: Academic APPOINTMENT: Fixed Term AVAILABILITY: Internal & External REF NO: B11/004746 The Department of Music within the School of Society, Culture and Performance is seeking to appoint a Lecturer to devise and teach units of study in their field of expertise, participate in other teaching, and supervise fourth year honours and postgraduate research. The successful applicant must have expertise in the field of Western Musicology, including historical and analytical studies. It is essential that the successful applicant have a PhD (completed or under examination) in an appropriate field; experience in tertiary teaching and lecturing; the ability to supervise honours and postgraduate research; proven research potential, including published work; the ability to work co-operatively with others, and administrative experience. It is also essential that the successful applicant has clearly formulated proposals for future research and an awareness of external funding schemes is desirable. Applicants with interdisciplinary interests are particularly encouraged to apply. The position is full-time fixed term for four and a half years from July 2004, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation and/or confirmation period for new appointees.
