More bad news: I asked Makemusic if, for example, you have an installation of OS 9 Finale and OS X Finale on the same computer, if it counts as two installations on your installation count. Apparently it does. :-( I'm assuming that if you want Finale 2004b in OS 9 it will have to be installed separately from within OS 9, so let's hope that they've also put the transfer-in/out system which they promised for Finale 2004b.
And when I installed 2004 my 2002 lost EPS export ability also (I'm sure its a fixable font thing but I haven't sourced it yet).
