I don't know... I started with a completely clean set of preferences for Finale 2004 -- I did not import my prefs from earlier Finale versions. As far as I can remember, I saved them only once or twice, very early on. Although the problem with the Edit Margins dialog also must have happened very early on, so who knows? Maybe they became corrupted on the very first day of use.
Chuck said he managed to fix the problem with the Edit Margins dialog, but it came back once he upgraded to Finale 2004b. I don't know whether he has "Save Preferences on Quit" checked or not.
Anyway, I've now managed to recreate my old prefs from scratch, and make a backup. We'll see if the problem returns.
