At the risk of being obvious, are you certain you replaced the internal battery correctly?

The keyboard is turned on? (not meant to be insulting, just because I know I have sometimes gotten frustrated over things not working only to find that I have overlooked the painfully obvious.)

Does the keyboard function correctly in all other regards?

Does the keyboard function properly if you play finale files through it?

Have you tried the keyboard with any other music programs? (Try downloading a demo of some sequencer program if you have no other midi applications on your computer, just to see if the problem lies with Finale or with your keyboard.)

Have you tried the keyboard with a friend's computer?

Have you tried replacing the midi cable?

Have you read the manual for the keyboard?

Do you have a patch selected for channel 1 on the keyboard?

Just a few ideas because it sounds as if you have everything set properly.

AKA Midi hell.

I recently had the battery replaced in my Ensoniq KT76 midi keyboard. As a result, all midi data flow between my computer and the keyboard has ceased. Here are the specifics:

Finale 2004b on PC using Windows XP.

Finale midi setup dialog box - midi in via midi external port set to base channel 1. There is no other option except 'none' in the drop-down box.

Speedy entry - use midi device for input checked.

Midi cables installed correctly - Midi in to Midi out and vice versa. I am using a cable with Midi left and right on the Ensoniq end and a single 15 pin plug into the game port of the computer.

System midi setting on the Ensoniq set to send on base channel 1.

Everything worked fine before. I am sure the midi keyboard settings have reverted to factory settings but I don't know what else to check.

Thanks,

Larry Lindberg
