The "default" Violin sound that you get when using the Setup Wizard is
actually a multi-string patch. I usually change this to a straight Violin
patch, because it usually sounds better on whatever MIDI equipment you're
using. To do this:

1. Select "Instrument list" from the Window menu
2. Make sure the "Violin" lines have "Violin" (number 41) selected in the GM
column instead of the default "String Ensemble" (number 49).

Hope this helps. However, as David said, there are MANY different variables
here, such as your brand and model of sound card, MIDI settings within
Finale, etc. If you can give more details you'll be sure to get more
specific help.
