The "default" Violin sound that you get when using the Setup Wizard is actually a multi-string patch. I usually change this to a straight Violin patch, because it usually sounds better on whatever MIDI equipment you're using. To do this: 1. Select "Instrument list" from the Window menu 2. Make sure the "Violin" lines have "Violin" (number 41) selected in the GM column instead of the default "String Ensemble" (number 49). Hope this helps.
