I often have trouble with midi files created from Finale that have
details that don't sound the same direct from Finale or from my
sequencer, but usually if the result is faulty, I've blamed it on the
sequencing capabilities of the software being used. In the past I've
had problems with Windows Media Player in particular. Well, today I
had another such problem with WMP's playback of a MIDI file, but then
when I played it in iTunes and it exhibited the same problem (I tried
the QuickTime player, and it had the problem, as well).

It sounds like some notes are being cut off because of exceeding the
polyphonic limits of my sound card, but it doesn't happen in Finale
or my sequencer. And I can't see any reason why the notes in question
should exceed the number of possible voices.

The MIDI file is:

and the PDF of the score is:

http://www.bway.net/~dfenton/opossum.pdf

The problem occurs in 3rd full measure of the score -- the 4th beat
quarter note of the right hand of the piano is chopped off when I
play it through WMP, iTunes or QuickTime player, and not through my
other sequencers (I even re-imported the MIDI file back into Finale
to see what it would do with it, and it came out fine).

Does anyone else hear this? If so, can anyone see what the problem
might be?
