Is there a way to produce musical symbols (flat, especially) in Word, or to import them from Finale? A colleague of mine is working on her doctoral dissertation, and needs to do just that.

The Bach font is generally available, and has a whole bunch of musical symbols that kern more or less well (unlike Maestro, which uses WAY too much vertical space), and go well with Times. I have a doc in Bach that I open up and copy and paste from, as I can never remember the keystrokes for the various symbols. A search on Google should turn it up.

The Back font even has an MS Word macro (some assembly required, see the website) which you can invoke in order to turn "****" into four 32nd notes, "----" into 8ths, etc. An image outlining it s capabilities can be found at <http://www.music.qub.ac.uk/~tomita/images/Bach4MCS.jpg>.
