In troubleshooting a new processor upgrade (1 GHz G4 -- woohoo! There's life in this old beige G3 DT yet!) I recently had to reinstall OS X completely -- no "preserve Users and Network Settings", I had to install a completely clean copy of OS X 10.3 without any preferences. I did not erase the HD first, though, so in many cases I didn't have to reinstall apps. For Finale, I had to reinstall the fonts, but that was it.

Anyway, I was curious whether my Finale registration would be preserved. Most of my other registrations (for DragThing, etc.) were lost and I had to reenter the serial nos., etc. But Finale did not ask me to re-register.

So, for the curious -- in the event that some day Coda folds completely without releasing a universal key for Finale, you *can* do a clean reinstall of OS X without losing your Finale registration (so long as you don't completely wipe your HD).
