Your method - opening two files and importing shapes actually attached to measures using "copy/paste", worked perfectly with the imported Smart Shapes showing up in the second document's Smart Shape selection dialog as expected. Most helpful. Thanks again.
2004c (Mac) - my 2c: It has cured a particular problem I was having, perhaps unique to me, in which multi-measure rest shapes would not print correctly, requiring going back to 2004 for printing and necessitating keeping two copies of the application available. (The 2004b files weren't corrupted when printed in 2004!!!???? No idea what that problem was.) In any case, that caused me a number of irritations (mostly controlled by following Darcy's advice, but annoying still). Now 2004c works fine for printing, and I no longer have 2004 installed, and I am pleased with the improvements available. Things are going pretty smoothly for my needs, and my G5 is fast enough that the sluggishness is rarely noticeable. There are bugs, but in my case, the tradeoff for the advantages is worth it.
