I did figure that out eventually (no thanks to the manual), but I remembered having to enclose the expression in < > brackets and it wouldn't print. Guess they changed that.

Sure makes it difficult to edit it -- when it's onscreen it's visible but just barely, but when you double click to go to the edit screen it truly is invisible. At least with the older method you always saw what you were editing!

Thanks,
David

Okay, I'm baffled -- isn't there a way to have expressions show only onscreen but not print?

I just searched the OLD using the phrase "non-printing expressions" and again using the phrase "nonprinting expressions" and got zero hits.

I looked in the old Finale 3 3-volume manual and couldn't find any entry either.

Am I remembering something that never existed?

Any help will be appreciated, even if it's just "Bailey, go have another cup of coffee and wake up."

Finally ;-), an easy one. If you're using Fin2004, change the font attribute to "hidden".
