Finale 2004 runs slower in System 10.3 than Finale 2003 in System 9,
but if you install Finale 2004 to run on System 9 you will run into
stability problems. The latest upgrade, Finale 2004c is pretty stable
for most of us Mac users. I suggest you install it in System 10.3,
especially if your iMac's speed is 800MHz or better.

If speed is crucial for you (you will be creating large scores - many
pages, many staves), it might be worthwhile for you to look into
getting Finale 2003.

Good luck.

Many thanks for the quick responses. I believe the I Mac I'm getting runs
at 600MHZ...however, I tend to not use Finale much or real large scores. It
sounds as if conventioal wisdom suggests that I opt for stability and
somewhat slower speed, and run the upgrade in OS X. By comparison to my
ancient Power Mac (6500/275MHZ), the I Mac will seem a lot faster to me
anyway, I suspect.
