Create the slurs in the main staff, then move them around so they look like they're attached to the ossia.

i have done this in the past in strange situations where smart shapes (hairpins) would disappear when attached to measures with certain staff styles (never figured out which one, since i often overlap staff styles, and/or use them on partial measures), but have always dreaded the day when i alter the layout slightly (eg. spacing between staff) and forget to adjust the slurs as well (as hal also mentioned)... now i place a HUGE non-printing text expression on the page to remind me.

i agree that there some effective solutions to the problem, but it seems to me that it would be sensible to allow the user to show articulations and note- and measure-attached smart shapes in the ossia. they are perhaps not needed when detailing ornament performance protocol (esp. for baroque music), but are really quite useful in offering different phrasing possibilities to the performer, when, for example, a different instrument or register is used.
